Alexander Hamilton Scholars

AHS selects 35 underserved high school juniors for their academic, personal, service, and entrepreneurial accomplishments, to participate in its no-cost, 5-year empowerment program. These students receive mentorship, practical guidance, and a comprehensive network of support. Additionally, each Junior is awarded a $500 scholarship.

Application Requirements

  • high school junior (c/o 2023)
  • live in the US
  • annual household income under $100,000
  • minimum UW GPA of 3.5

Application Process

Round 1 (opens Nov. 7, due Jan. 26, 2022)

  • two 500-word essays, extracurricular list w/ descriptions, other basic info
  • Letter of Recommendation optional, due Feb 2, 2022

Round 2 (March 2022)

  • 60 finalists are notified, sign up for phone interview

April 2022: Winners are notified

Notes

  • priority given to first-gen and/or low-income people with extenuating circumstances
  • program runs over 5 years, with a different leadership conference
    • HS senior: NYC leader week (2022)
    • College freshman: Seattle leader week (2023)
    • College sophomore: International leader week (in Guatamala, 2024)
    • College junior: Texas Leader Week (in Dallas, 2025)
  • looking for high-achieving and service-focused people who possess grit and perseverance
